WordPlay Literacy Program
Theme:- Scrabble: A tool for Literacy Development
Inaugurating Scrabble Wordplay Fellows in Secondary Schools in Ibadan on 21st May 2025
To boost literacy, critical thinking, and cognitive agility of young students across the curriculum, Scrabble Wordplay Fellows (active NYSC members) were inaugurated in secondary schools. These leaders mentor the students, run word-labs, and help the students weave strategic vocabulary play into everyday learning.

The WordPlay Flagship Event showcased a multi-tier Scrabble exposition as a tool for literacy development alongside interactive word-labs and teacher clinics, and culminated in the inauguration of Scrabble Wordplay Fellows—thereby helping to accelerate literacy and critical thinking across participating schools.

Theme:- War Against Drug Abuse

De-YELF flagged off its maiden Football Competition themed “Drug Abuse Prevention through the Lens of Youth Empowerment and Community Engagements”, uniting youth, coaches, and community members to promote healthy living, social responsibility, and a drug-free future

At the De-YELF Football Competition, a representative of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) delivered an enlightening seminar on the dangers of drug abuse, highlighting its devastating effects on health, life, and career, and urging youths to embrace positive choices that safeguard their future and empower their communities.

Through My Eyes: Youth Against Drug Abuse and Violence
About SUSDEV 1.0
SUSDEV 1.0 (Sustainable Development 1.0) is De-YELD’s flagship youth program designed to introduce young people to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), build their leadership and problem-solving skills, and support them to design and implement community-impact projects. Overall, SUSDEV 1.0 will be implementing initiatives targeted towards achieving SDGs 3, 4, 8, 11, and 17.
SUSDEV 1.0 Track A themed “Through my Eyes: Youth against Drug Abuse & Violence” seeks to raise awareness, educate students, and empower them to become agents of change within their communities and schools.
Through creative expression, expert-led discussions, and youth engagement, the program aims to promote healthy lifestyles, reduce substance abuse, and strengthen a culture of peace and well-being among secondary school students.
